From Paris with Love: Review of the Rebecca Minkoff Fall 2017 Collection

At last, we’re in spring and I know that you share my enthusiasm.
To celebrate the beginning of the season, I headed to Paris — city of light, love and haute couture. I just got back.

While there, I took in Rebecca Minkoff’s Fall 2017 Collection, which was previewed in the Tomorrow Ltd. showroom in the heart of the city.

If you love velvet, you’ll certainly appreciate this New York designer’s collection. Purses, accessories and simply adorable flats made from this beautiful fabric. Velvet is a hot trend that won’t go away for some time. I particularly love velvet mules.

I adore the designer’s wide selection of jeweled guitar straps to customize handbags. Very. Clever. Idea. Chic suddenly becomes practical in that you may have one bag and simply change the straps to match outfits. This is particularly useful for travel. All you have to put in your suitcase is ONE bag and few different straps for different looks.

You can also accessorize your bag with a Power Puff Pompon D’Alimentation, which has a USB and iPhone cord designed into it. You can give your phone a charging boost wherever you are.  Perfect accessory for every city fashionista! It certainly saved me in Paris, given my constant use of social media, Google Map and Uber ride applications. I highly recommend to to visit Rebecca Minkoff’s website for more gadgets and tech accessories.

In signing off, I’d like to reiterate that the Minkoff collection is exquisite. It’s romantic, yet it has an edgy vibe. I think every woman can find something exciting that fits her personal style and taste from the new line. What do you think of it?

Farfetch App Review And £400 Voucher Giveaway

Hi everyone,

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and are looking forward to celebrating New Year’s Eve.

This year was a bit intense for me — full of many changes and great accomplishments. As I’ve mentioned earlier in my blog posts, I work in fine jewelry industry and I enjoy every moment of it. Every day is different and there is always so much to learn! I hope that you, too, are ending a satisfying year and starting to create 2016 goals.

I have exciting news to share!

Farfetch.com , international fashion website, recently contacted me to review their Farfetch Discover app.

The app takes online shopping experience to the next level by showcasing over 300 carefully selected boutiques.

All boutiques are located everywhere from Tokyo, New York and London to Catania, New Orleans and Buharest, but united in one online shopping destination.

I’ve just discovered Dolci Trame, a hidden gem in the heart of renaissance city, Siena. I adore its wide selection of incredible designers such as Phillip Lim, Clizia Ornato, Akris and Ann Demeulemeester.

I particularly like the ‘search’ tab that allows you to filter your shopping experience by using key words. More importantly, the tab saves the previously searched words:

Also, the list of famous and emerging international designers is incredible. Whether you are big fan of Martin Margiela or Haute Hippie, the online boutique will satisfy the most exquisite taste. Notably, some boutiques offers vintage, one-of-a-kind pieces.

Finally, the app has an “Add To Wish List” button that allows you to save your favourite items.

My wish list features capes, maxi dresses and knee-high boots. I especially can’t stop thinking about Nicholas Kirkwood ‘Carnaby’ boots:

Sassique Giveaway: Bally Leather Cable Pouch

A fast life pace requires organization.

Imagine this scenario. You’re rushing. You end up pulling cables out of your purse and the rest of your belongings with them. Think about it. How many times have you lost or broken your earbuds?

I was excited to receive Bally leather travel pouch from a style curation social media platform for fashion enthusiasts Sassique (the big thank you!)

It is a perfect solution for my gadgets. I didn’t know what the company was going to send me, so it was quite a pleasant surprise to open a package and discover a nice cylindrical piece made of a fine soft leather. Simple, yet elegant, this piece fits nicely into my lifestyle.

NYFW Polyvore Style Lounge Or Breakfast At Soho House Library

How does the most technologically savvy fashion company celebrate #NYFW? Polyvore stands out for technological sophistication. Unlike other events, I was able to plug-in my devices into charging stations and a USB adaptor was included in the free goodies. I connected with the other Polyvore members via a big screen, which displayed Instagram posts.

I enjoyed the cozy ambiance of the Soho House library, which was filled with vintage decor, makeup/hairdo primp from Sephora and DreamDry , cocoa brownies, a large cup of delicious coffee and the opportunity to win a Chanel surf tote. I felt like a spoiled kid!

It was a perfect way to start the morning, get renewed and continue my new journey in jewelry design.

Taking It to a New Dimension: 3D Jewelry

I recently discovered a Lower East Side Manhattan store that sells 3D jewelry-making machines along with 3D jewelry. I was excited to learn that that they offer classes on how to make these interesting pieces.

“During the class, you’ll have an opportunity to produce the jewelry you’ve designed and carry it away,” said the salesman.

The $30 class is reasonable and I’m considering it.

Yet, I thought first I’d ask your opinion on the jewelry. Do you think the pieces are worth $80 to $90? What do you think of 3D jewelry aesthetics in general? Would you wear it?

Twelve Ways to Increase Polyvore Followers

Victoria Beckham in Louboutine: Get The Look

1. Participate. A great way to expose your art is through a group contest or the Polyvore contest.

2. Be original. Other people’s sets provide  great inspiration for layouts and color schemes. However, distinctive style and persistence in design are what will make you unique.

3. Engage with Polyvore users. Comment on the sets rather than just clicking “like.”

4. Learn graphic design basics. This includes the typography essentials and color selections. You can learn more about these by watching YouTube videos. In the embellishment category, the  “Colors” tool  has very popular and interesting  palettes to make your set visually appealing.

5. Keep it simple. Avoid using too many details. For example, don’t incorporate an inordinate amount of colors. Simplicity is the key. Once the set is ready, play with it. Simplify by removing unnecessary layers or details.

Modern Edge

6. Use personal messages or quotes. This is a wonderful way to connect with other members.

7. Challenge yourself. Rather than styling an already popular item, create an incredible set from a simple, unknown product.

8. Use hashtags related to your set when publishing.

9. Search for trends, top sets for inspiration and ideas. You will find these by clicking on the “Explore” tab in the upper left corner.

10. Create your personal template. A personalized template will ensure format consistency and  highlight your profile, along with your art.

11. Understand community. Once you have followers, it is important to understand and embrace the concept of sharing and giving in this digital world. Create albums. Group other people’s work and promote their art. Share their sets on social media channels, such as Instagram, Facebook, WordPress, etc. Don’t forget to mention the artist’s username and offer a link back to his or her work.

12. Practice, practice, practice. You can become an expert in anything if you genuinely enjoy it and continually practice. You don’t have to be innately gifted. All you need is passion. Good luck!

Please, share any other tips you’ve discovered in  using Polyvore.

Using Red Light Skin Rejuvenation Therapy

We try to balance fast-paced careers with a strong family life. Inevitably, this creates stress.

Some women choose high-pressure lifestyles. The corporate world or entrepreneurship is exciting and rewarding. Still, it can take a toll on the looks.

Looking fresh and young creates an important first impression, which is an essential element for success. We all need to learn to take care of ourselves continually.

So… here you are… waking up and looking at yourself in the mirror. You say, “Is it me?!”

Stress affects the skin at any age. It generates sagging, wrinkling, excessive oiliness and enlarged pores.

I try everything new on the market. Recently, I’ve started to use red light therapy, which uses bulbs to emit rays that deeply penetrate the skin to stimulate collagen. The results are noticeable immediately. Ah, don’t you love technology? This is an amazing solution for my skin and my rollercoaster lifestyle.

Today, I applied the product Beauty Angel red light therapy cosmetic Focus FORTIFIED SERUM during a red light sessions. This product, which is especially great if you have dry or sensitive skin, increases the affect of red lights.

I’m a believer. Stay strong and beautiful!

When You Can’t Fake It

I spend a significant amount online monitoring fashion trends and new startups. I’ve noticed an increase of Asian online stores selling designer replica products. One of those website descriptions reads:

“… is an online shopping destination that you need to bookmark and visit again and again. Our mission is to bring heart to commerce and become the better origin of fashion inspiration. Inspire and be inspired by cool girls the world over.

Here are the hottest single product recommendation, the fabulous treasure to share, come visit the baby, and love with beautiful people found the fashion, sharing fashion, looking for fashion to catch up with the trend; share the shopping experience, record your fashion diary, practicing fashion and beautiful heart Sutra, do the most beautiful.”

A better origin of fashion?!

First of all, that company can claim no authenticity. These are shameless replicas of top world designers, such as Valentino, Alexander Wang, Alexander McQueen and many others. Second, the website is full of grammatical errors, which make me cringe. What a sign of unprofessionalism and ignorance. Finally, I’ve noticed that the company targets fashion bloggers and social networks for fashion enthusiasts from all over the world. The exposure to all of this is like the spread of an unpreventable virus.

I have always been against replicas. The top designers and world-recognizable brands invest a tremendous amount of time and effort to build their brands and reputations.  They typically have a long history and passion for design at the core of their name (brand). I respect that.

My message for the customer: first, you don’t have to spend a tremendous amount of money to experience the design of luxury brands. There is a reason that famous designers collaborate with other retailers, such as H&M, Macy’s, Target, etc.  If you purchase a replica, you only show ignorance, lack of taste and disrespect for designers.

My message to fashion bloggers: Would you buy fake apparel just to get your name out there?

If so, your choices are not sustainable in the long run.  If you are thinking of a long-term career as a stylist or fashion blogger, support the designers and learn as much as possible about them, including the personalities of their brands, as well as their histories.
